Roll-Neck Sweater (love this mustard coloras well) | Relaxed-Fit Trousers (similar velvet style here) | Kenneth Cole Boots (also seen here & here) | Warby Parker x Off White Sunglasses (s/o similar here) One of my favorite things about the seasons changing is that you get to incorporate new styles into your wardrobe and try different silhouettes to mix things up. Yes, I know grabbing your favorite pair of denim is always an easy transitional style and a sure fire way to get that laid-back effortless vibe, without compromising comfort. But, what if I told you that you could achieve that same laid-back vibe, and even look a bit more elevated? Introducing the relaxed fit trouser, which is one of my favorite pieces for fall. It’s an easy breezy silhouette to take you from summer to fall in a second. You may notice this look from one of my NYFW outfits on Instagram this past week and for me, it was all about the trouser this season. I incorporated the trouser, with varying silhouettes, in a few of my looks last week, but there was just something about this particular look that I loved. Maybe it was because these trousers gave a more street style vibe, rather than a smart and tailored feel. It’s safe to say that I can’t get enough of this combo and each piece on its own. There are so many ways to wear each one, but this look has to be my favorite way to style them both.
So let’s talk relaxed-fitting trousers, shall we? When shopping for a relaxed silhouette, I look for a few key features. Firstly, I look for a high-rise construction, as this will help to make this silhouette the most flattering. A high-waist helps to accentuate the smallest part of your waist, and create the appearance of longer legs, which who doesn’t want? Secondly, I look for relaxed trousers that fit through the hip and then down to a slightly tapered ankle. This will help to give you more of a shape, rather than looking like you’re 1). Pear-shaped and 2). wearing your grandpa’s oversized trousers, which we don’t want (sorry grandpa). This oversized, relaxed fitting bottom trend was all over NYFW and one of the staple model off duty looks.
I recommend styling a relaxed fitting bottom with something that is cropped, to help show off the high waisted fit, and again, the smallest part of your waist. You can also wear a fitted white t-shirt or cropped white LS shirt tucked in, to show off your figure a bit more. It is important to compliment a baggier silhouette with either something that is a little more fitted or even play on the baggy silhouette with something that is cropped and slightly more loose fitting. Try out different silhouettes and find a style that helps compliment the trouser rather than fight against it…in other words, let the pants be the main focal point of the look. For me, I wanted to show off a bit of midriff, but also play on the baggier vibes. I incorporated this roll-neck cropped sweater that had a more fitted waist and a bigger statement sleeve. This was such a cute transitional find that I’ve been wearing with high-waisted denim, trousers, and skirts. I hope I encouraged you to try out this relaxed silhouette! Seriously, where did this summer go? I can’t and refuse to believe that it is already Labor Day Weekend. If feels like just yesterday that I was gearing up for my college graduation and planning a few weekend getaways. But, when the temperatures begin to cool off and you start adding ‘chunky knits’ into your online shopping carts (like I just did this morning!), you know it’s real. This time of year also means that there will be some amazing Labor Day sales to shop.
Normally at this time of the year, my feelings about the upcoming weeks would be very different. I would have felt a wave of sadness (that my free time was now ripped from me) and stress comes over my body, as I would normally be anticipating another school year and another semester of college. But this year is very different. This was the first summer in a long time where I could just take a breather from the thoughts of planning the perfect college schedule, making sure that I was fulfilling all of my course requirements and sitting in a college classroom for hours upon hours a day. No, not this year. This year is now the time that I can focus on my business, my blog, explore my passions and hopefully attend more NYFW events! In the past, I was never able to attend most of the shows that I was so fortunate enough to be invited to because my college schedule would always somehow get in the way. I am excited for this new chapter in my life and I still can’t believe it’s finally here. I worked insanely hard during my 4 years at Fordham University and balancing my classes and Liv For Luxury was not a walk in the park. I am proud of my accomplishments and graduating as a member of Phi Beta Kappa, and receiving Magna Cum Laude is something that will always remind me of my hard work at Fordham.
But enough about me, back to the Labor Day weekend sales! There are some really good ones this year and I decided to round up my favorites below! I hope everyone has a happy Labor Day and enjoys the long weekend!
DERMSTORE: 20% off sitewide w/ code LONGWKND.This is actually one of my absolute favorite websites for all things skincare and beauty. They have a great selection of products, like the famous beauty blender and this Mason Pearson hairbrush. My grandma just got me one of these brushes and I cannot tell you want a difference it makes. Brushing my hair is easier and I feel like it’s helped strengthen my hair.
Every season I make a few tweaks to my beauty regime, with both skincare and makeup. With the heat and humidity, it only felt natural to hit the refresh button on my daily beauty products. This summer I’ve been focused on letting my skin breathe, and doing very minimal makeup. I think that I can speak on behalf of a lot of women when I say that most of us are striving for that barely there, dewy glow and those no-makeup makeup looks. During the hot summer months, the last thing I wanted to do is put layers upon layers of liquids and powders on my skin, so it could just melt off once I hit outdoors. It is all about playing up your best features to make it look like you put a lot of effort into your look when really you only spent a good 5-10 minutes in front of the mirror. Testing out new products to achieve this fresh faced look can be fun, but challenging if you aren’t looking in the right places. As much as I love high-end makeup goodies, nothing beats a great deal and most of the products that I use to achieve my favorite fresh-faced look are from my go-to drugstore – CVS Pharmacy. That is why I am very excited to be partnering with CVS Pharmacy to share with you my fresh summer makeup with my favorite products and to talk about CVS Pharmacy’s ExtraCare Beauty Club Membership offerings. If you are a makeup lover who is obsessed with trying out amazing and affordable products, signing up for the CVS Pharmacy Beauty Club is a necessity. With a CVS Pharmacy Beauty Club membership, these makeup products and some of my tricks, you are bound to breeze through the rest of this season and into the fall in top form!
CVS Pharmacy has always been one of my favorite destinations for beauty essentials. They offer one of the best beauty shopping experiences that are not only convenient, because there are two CVS Pharmacy’s within a 3-mile radius of my home, but also affordable. If you could believe this, I actually bought my first item of makeup at CVS Pharmacy as a young teenager! Fast forward several years later and the beauty shopping experience at CVS Pharmacy has only gotten better (and more fun)! There are aisles and aisles filled with some of the most popular beauty brands in the industry, plus some CVS Pharmacy exclusives like Makeup Academy (MUA) and Beaty360. I highly recommend signing up for the ExtraCare Beauty Club if you are a makeup lover like me because from August 20th through the end of September CVS Pharmacy’s ExtraCare Beauty Club members can get $3 ExtraBucks® Rewards for every $30 cumulatively spent on qualifying beauty products. That is some major savings and you can sign up for the Beauty Club Membershiphere! I recently took a trip to CVS Pharmacy to stock up on my summer beauty essentials that help me to achieve this fresh faced summer glow! All of the products that I used to create my look for today’s post were all purchased at my local CVS Pharmacy!Let’s start with one of my newest obsessions,Maybelline’s Facestudio Master Contour Face Contouring Kit. I’ve never been a huge fan of creating a very sharp contour and highlight. My mantra when it comes to makeup is keeping things as natural and as beautiful as possible. But, that doesn’t mean that you can’t use a contour palette like this to warm up your complexion and give that subtle summer glow. These three flattering powder products are blendable, buildable and add the perfect sun–kissed glow. Maybelline has labeled the products to help you create an easy 3 step look. I use the contour shade to warm up my skin in the hollows of my cheeks, around the hairline and a sweep across the bridge of the nose. I use the second shade, the blush shade, on the apples of my cheeks for a pop of pink. My grandma always says “blush is youth” and it is one of those beauty products that I can’t live without. It helps to brighten up the face and makes you look like you have a youthful glow from within. I apply the highlight shade on the high points of my face- top of the cheekbones and under the brows in a “C” formation, down the bridge of the nose, on the cupids bow and on the inner corners of my eyes. You want to apply a highlight on the high points of the face to accentuate those features and make them appear as if they are higher than the other features on the face. These three products glide on the skin and add just the right amount of color to the apples of my cheeks and a hint of illumination on my cheek bones. This Maybelline product has a small brush included, which is great if you want more of a precise application. But, my favorite way to apply these products for a more natural look is with theMUA Pro Double Ended Contour & Highlight Brush. I use the angled brush head to apply the bronzer and blush shade. I then use the tapered brush to softly sweep the highlighter on the high points of my face. This fluffy brush helps blend an even amount of product throughout the face and the dual ends make it perfect for travel! Makeup Academy is an exclusive CVS Pharmacy brand that was developed by makeup professionals for beauty experts. MUA’s products are premium quality and they deliver amazing cosmetic and beauty accessories to makeup lovers everywhere. Such a staple brush and super affordable. No shocker here that I have one of theBurt’s Bees Tinted Lip Oils on my list. I have always been a fan of a glossy lip and during the summer there is nothing prettier than glowing skin and a juicy lip. I love the Burt’s Bees shade called ‘Showering Sunset’ because it gives your lips a natural kiss of color while hydrating and smoothing your lips. It is important to keep your lips moisturized during the warm summer season and this non-sticky formula nourishes your lips with a subtle glossy finish in a sheer pink blush shade. The click and twist pen and the soft brush applicator makes application easy, especially when you’re on the go!I’ve come to the realization there’s one product that remains a staple in nearly every makeup lover’s routine: mascara. It can dramatically change the size of your eyes, bring out their natural contour, and frame your entire face. Now that’s some pretty powerful stuff. My favorite mascara recently has to be theL’Oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise Waterproof Mascara. This mascara delivers volume and length with maximum hold. My lashes are long, but they did not hold a curl very well – until they met this mascara. The soft wavy bristle brush holds the perfect amount of product to give your lashes a lift and the brush manages to coat each individual lash. The waterproof formula glides on effortlessly and lasts all day, which is perfect for those long days at the beach or by the pool. This product is definitely a must-try!I like to add a subtle swipe of color to the eyelids, and one of my favorite products to do that is the L’Oreal Colour Riche Monos Eye Shadow in the shade ‘Sunset Seine’. This golden bronze shade, with gold flecks, helps to liven up the eyes and create a dreamy angelic look. I recommend applying this product with your ring finger, as it will help to warm up the product and get the most out of the pigment. When you apply this product it is very smooth and feels gel-like. But when it dries it turns into a powder and it leaves you with the most beautiful sparkle to the eyes. It’s not too much for a natural makeup look, trust me. It just brightens up the eyes with a complimentary bronzy tone. Try it, and I know you’ll love it!I mentioned before how important it is to nourish your lips with moisturizing products during the summer months because the heat and humidity can dry out not only your lips but also your skin! During the summer your skin can get crazy dry, which is why it is important to apply a nourishing hand lotion! I like to use theEOS Hand Lotion in the scent ‘Berry Blossom’ because of the velvety soft formula and the refreshing light fragrance. This lotion is packed with nourishing shea butter, aloe, oats, and antioxidants to keep your hands beautiful and soft all day. I like to work a pea sized amount into the back of my hands and cuticles. This product absorbs pretty quickly into the skin and it doesn’t leave a greasy residue. The best part of this product is that is it only $2.49, which means that if you spend $30 on qualifying beauty products you can use your $3 ExtraBucks Reward points towards this product! I like to use EOS Hand Lotion to prep and soothe my skin/cuticles before an at–home manicure. I am the kind of person that likes to have painted nails 24/7 because I think having them painted is the most important part of your beauty routine. One of the questions that I constantly get asked on Instagram is what my go-to nail color is. Hands down, my ride or die nail color is‘Ballet Slippers’ by Essie. This perfect pale pink color offers the right amount of coverage and compliments your summer glow. I just can’t live without it.Often in the past, I would use too much makeup when trying to achieve that no-makeup makeup look. But really, the best way to achieve that barely there fresh face is to use just a few beauty essentials! It is all about getting the products right and CVS Pharmacy has everything you need and more to get that minimal look that is so highly coveted. The trick is to not cover everything! We’re not perfect and I am sure all of us have little imperfections in the skin that we chose to cover. Most of the time, nobody can see those imperfections that you may be insecure about. People focus on your eyes and a bright cheerful smile! My mother always told me that I look my best when I have an inner happiness that shows through. Once you get over trying to achieve a flawless complexion, you’ll start to notice how beautiful you are with what you naturally have!
Thank you to CVS Pharmacy for sponsoring this post. I encourage all of you tosign up for their ExtraCare Beauty Club Membership!
For me, a denim jacket is one of those pieces that is an ideal wardrobe investment. It is the perfect topper that goes with just about everything, it’s versatile, flattering and has that timeless appeal that is universally adored. Not to mention, a denim jacket doesn’t have to cost you a fortune and there are a limitless amount of looks that can be created surrounding this one piece. A denim jacket is something that you don’t have to keep repurchasing every season (I am using the word “have” very lightly here haha). But if you’re like me and want to expand your denim jacket selection and go for a different denim wash, color block denim or go for a different length and fit, then this blog post is for you. When I saw this color block denim jacket on PacSun, the oversized fit and the contrast paneling reminded me of 1990’s vintage pieces, but with a modern take. When I saw that it was paired with a matching white denim skirt, you know I was sold on this denim set. It is clear that the denim on denim trend has fully made a comeback, which was inspired by the F/W 17 runways where designers like Calvin Klein and Dior endorsed the denim-on-denim trend. It is also apparent that matching two piece sets, whether it’s a jacket and skirt, shorts, or pants has really made its mark as an official summer trend. This denim duo is perfect for summer and it is flattering in all the right places. Opting for two different shades of denim- the color block denim up top and the true white denim on the bottom– help to break up this look. I kept the rest of the outfit the same color palette which also helps things look streamlined and not disheveled. A classic pair of white sneakers and a white bralette where simple accompaniments to this fun, yet understated color block set.
I have linked similar items and some of my favorite denim pieces down below for you! Also, PacSun is having a major denim sale right now – buy one, get one FREE! So, I was sure to link some of my favorite picks from there as well! As always, please let me know if you need help figuring out which size you need in any of the items that I am wearing or the items that I feature. As I mentioned in a previous post, I am very familiar with all of the brands that I feature when it comes to sizing. After years of ordering multiple sizes in one item, I have figured out what will work! Let me know ‘what denim piece you could not ‘liv’ without?’ in the comment section below and I hope you enjoyed this post!
Like the LBD, a black jumpsuit has become a staple in my closet. They are my favorite alternative to a dress probably because they are just as easy and they can give you a complete look with one simple piece. This Reformation Pace Jumpsuit is a favorite of mine for this summer and the light linen material is perfect and seasonally appropriate. Reformation jumpsuits, like the one I wore in this Instagram post, and jumpsuits, in general, are classic, flattering and such a chic option. When I am in a pinch and don’t know what to wear, I always end up grabbing this piece.
While I do love a statement summer dress, like the one I wore in this weeks post, the LBJ (Little Black Jumpsuit) has to come in a close second as one of my favorite pieces. The Pace Jumpsuit from Reformation is a modern take on the classic jumpsuit. Who knew the 20th century lace-up corset detailing would be so modern and fresh in fashion today. From standalone corset belts to layered bustier tops, it is clear that this trend isn’t going anywhere – specifically when layered.
The corset helps to cinch in the waist and accentuate the smallest part of your torso. I really love the monochromatic linen layering of this jumpsuit and you all know I am obsessed with a wide leg silhouette. This piece is so unique, yet so wearable and classic. Paired with my tallest black wavy sandals, the all black ensemble helps to break up the all black look and elongate my legs for an overall elegant, yet edgy look.
I hope you enjoyed this post! If you are a jumpsuit lover like I am, you might want to check out Reformation, as they have a great selection of elevated jumpsuits for the modern woman! I have linked some of my favorite picks below:

You know the summer is in full effect when the only thing you want to put on is a flowing floral maxi dress. I’m always cold, so I really don’t mind the warmer temperatures that we are currently experiencing in NY. As we speak, I am outside in the blazing sun writing this blog post and I do not mind. Seriously, I love this kind of weather, plus it gives me an excuse to trade in a pair of jeans for something fun like this floral maxi dress by Yumi Kim. This dress is perfect for daytime into night, and for nighttime, I chose to style it with simple gold jewelry and my favorite pair of strappy sandals. But, for daytime, I would opt for a pair of lace up sandals or a blue suede mule. If my petite readers are fearing the idea of this maxi dress for being too long for them– do not worry! Down below I have linked a similar option, from Yumi Kim, that comes in a range of petite sizes! I love the vintage silhouettes and the focus on prints with Yumi Kim’s dresses. The bright and vibrant floral always make the perfect statement and this flowy maxi dress is no exception. If you are reading this blog post or any of m blog post, and are confused about sizing or want to know what size I am wearing in any of the items that I feature, please feel free to reach out to me. You can do so through the comment section below, my contact section on my site or by directly emailing me at firstname.lastname@example.org. I am always happy to help you guys with any questions you may have because I know how frustrating it is to be in between sizes and not knowing what size to go with. I am a victim of ordering the same item in multiple sizes, just to be confident that I purchased the right size. It is a never ending battle because every brand is different and sometimes even the same brand can have a wide range of sizes in different pieces. That is why I am always here and ready to answer any of your questions because I have become very familiar with a wide range of brands and their sizing over the years and I would be happy to help you all! Feel free to also DM me on Instagram, @livforluxury, with any questions!
