Reformation Top | Gingham Mini Skirt | Daniel Wellington Watch | Scala Sun Hat

Sweet sweet summertime has finally arrived in NY and I couldn’t be more thrilled! With summer weather comes a whole summer wardrobe, and, boy, do I have some cute seasonal looks in store for you guys! Today on Liv For Luxury, I’m starting off the summer style with a throwback post to the 90’s, as the most polarizing trends of this season have been inspired by the 90’s. I’m all for showing off a bit of midriff during the summer and what better way to do that than with a cropped blouse and a gingham mini skirt. But I’m not just talking about any basic cropped top. There’s one style in particular that’s making a comeback, and that’s what I like to call the “bubble top.”

With elastic bands around the waist and arms and a more abbreviated length, this trend pairs beautifully with a high-waisted bottom, such as a pair of trousers, jeans, or in this case a mini skirt. The Reformation Josephine Top can either be worn off the shoulders or it can be styled as a cropped shirt with a ruffled bubble sleeve. It’s a modern take on one of those classic off the shoulder bubble tops that I used to rock in the 90’s… and I’m sure some of you did as well!

Aside from the bubble cropped top trend that’s making a comeback this summer, gingham print is another feminine trend I knew we’d be seeing everywhere this season. Stores like Zara, Express, Free People, and Reformation are offering so many different styles in this country-style and preppy staple. Made from this cool textured gingham, this side tie skirt from Madewell was one of those “wear-with-all” pieces I knew I would make so much use of this summer. I chose to dress up this new gingham skirt with a cropped bubble top and my favorite pair of block heels. Every time I feature these suede sandals on my Instagram I get so many messages and questions about where you can purchase them. You will all be happy to know that they are inexpensive and currently on sale!

I finished off the look with my new favorite accessories – this straw sun hat and the new Bondi watch from Daniel Wellington. This sun hat is from a brand called Scala. Last summer I was obsessed with my Janessa Leone flat brimmed hat, but this season I was looking for something a little more Parisian and elegant. When I saw the sweet bow detailing on this hat, I was in love. I wanted to pair this look with some delicate details that played off the gingham print, which is why this new white-strapped Bondi watch was ideal. I have always been a fan of Daniel Wellington’s minimalistic and timeless design, and when I was introduced to this new style, I found the white strap to be unique for the brand. If you want to shop the new DW Bondi style, you can use the code LIVFORLUXURY at checkout to receive 15% off your purchase! I’ve been wearing it with all my looks recently, and it is definitely my new summer essential.

I hope you enjoyed this post and if you want to shop this look, similar items and some of my favorite gingham pieces, you can do so below:

Club Monaco Floral Wrap Dress, Mango Linen Wedge, Doen Market Carry All Basket Bag,

One of my most loved dresses from this past spring is this Auguste the Label floral wrap dress. As I mentioned in this post, one of my favorite silhouettes is the wrap dress because it’s classic, comfortable, and flattering to a range of body types. Whether it’s a maxi or mini wrap dress, I’m always on the lookout for this particular silhouette. But, it’s all about finding the right wrap for you.

My number one pet peeve is when there isn’t enough material to actually “wrap” across the bust and you’re left with a situation up top that is not what you’re looking for (my big busted girls will know what I’m talking about). On the other hand, you don’t want the wrap dress to have too much coverage where you can end up looking matronly and too “wrapped up”. It’s all about finding that happy medium, so when I came across this playful ruffled wrap dress and tried it on, I knew in a heartbeat that it was THE one. The luxurious silk mixed with the wrapped style makes this dress ultra flattering and super comfortable to wear. Club Monaco also made a similar wrap style in their previous collection with long sleeves and a black and white polka dot print, which is a classic dress to have in your wardrobe.

This carry all basket bag from Doen has been a recent obsession of mine and one of my go-to accessories. You may have noticed that this basket bag trend has been everywhere lately, and I am all for it. Not only is this bag easy to pair with basically everything, but it’s incredibly affordable, too. This Doen bag is under $30, which I think is an amazing price for such a well constructed bag.

What I love about this wrap dress is how perfect and light it is for those warm summer days. I wore this look on a trip to Westport, CT this week, when the temperature was at “burning hot,” and it managed to keep me cool. I decided to dress this look up with a mid-heeled linen wedge. These espadrilles from Mango are made in a soft beige linen, which is the perfect color to pair with all your light summer dresses. They’re also a great heel height because they offer just the right amount of lift while still being comfortable and easy to walk in. Not to mention they’re a great price! You could also take a casual approach by keeping the straw bag but swapping out the linen espadrilles for a strappy sandal.

 Newport, RI

My family and I first started traveling to Newport, Rhode Island in 2000 when I was around 5 years old. This was long before the days of Instagram, Twitter, and Liv For Luxury for that matter. We started vacationing to RI when our very close family friends moved to Newport. To this day, Rhode Island is still one of my favorite places I’ve ever traveled. The scenic views from the famous “Cliff Walk,” the beautiful beaches, mansion tours, the charming town with interesting shops and restaurants, the picturesque Newport Marina, and my favorite -Sweetberry Farm. Some of my fondest memories are from trips to Rhode Island. Every time we visit I’m instantly transported back to those feelings of being a little girl and holding my dad’s hand as we walked in to town to explore all the unique stores in the town of Newport. I can also remember going to the beach and getting a famous Frozen Del’s Lemonade from the Del’s Truck that was parked in the beach parking lot 24/7. There is something about Newport that is nostalgic, calming, peaceful and puts me at ease. Nothing beats watching the sun set over the harbor.

Fast forward to 17 years later, and I still enjoy visiting RI with my family. We still keep in contact with our close family friends and visit them every chance we get…and have plans to see them this weekend! So, in honor of my trip, I put together a packing list– some of which I have and some of which I am currently coveting – all inspired by the beachy laid back vibes of RI. My suitcase is filled with light linens and cotton, a few bikinis, and of course an array of neutral shades – especially blue and white.

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend! You can shop some more Rhode Island Inspo below:

You probably saw a sneak peek of this outfit on my Instagram last week, but I loved it too much not to do a full outfit post. I bought this two piece set from Revolve last month and I was coveting it for a special occasion. When that special occasion finally arrived, I was ready and certainly eager to wear this look. Majorelle is one of my favorite brands on Revolve because they have modern and effortless designs. The brand has created The Sangria set for a number of their collections, so it was no surprise they brought it back again for this summer collection. The set was first created in a bright red color, and since then it has been featured a few other color ways. It was an outfit I’d been eyeing but waited and waited until it was made in a light blue color. For some reason I always pictured it looking majestic in a dusty blue shade, and as luck would have it, The Sangria Set in dusty blue was born!

This set is so unique and the details are simply perfection. The top is a modern take on the classic off the shoulder top, as it features an elastic neckline and hem with an adorable tasseled closure. I love how the tassel closure allows for a custom fit because you can adjust the elastic hemline/neckline to fit as tight or as loose as you want. The ruffled detailing throughout the top just creates a serene and billowed effect that I am obsessed with.

Now, if you think I loved the top, then there aren’t words for how I feel about the Sangria Maxi Skirt. If I could design a skirt, this is the silhouette I would use. It is absolutely dreamy in every way possible. The airy design has movement and makes you feel like there is an invisible fan following me wherever I go…really, I’m serious. The great thing about this skirt is that you can dress it down with a simple white t-shirt and a strappy sandal and have a totally different look.

My favorite detail is the button closure running down the front because it allows for a subtle hint of skin and gives you an opportunity to show off your shoe. Which leads me to my newest obsession – The Channon Heels for Club Monaco. Aren’t they beautiful? The creamy oatmeal shade and the wavy straps are so delicate and sophisticated. The design is very elevated and they can be paired with several different summer looks. I wore them in my last post with a more casual look, but they can easily transition into a dressier summertime look.

If you’re like me, then you’re probably always on the hunt for the perfect summer dresses for the various occasions throughout the season. I recently graduated, but this season is filled with celebrations like weddings, summer parties, and even graduation parties. So, having an arsenal of versatile and beautiful summer dresses on hand is a necessity. Club Monaco is always my go- to destination for, well every occasion, but they always have an amazing selection of dresses this time of year. Just a side note: I actually wore this Club Monaco dress to my graduation, so the brand and this dress will always hold a special place in my heart.
When shopping for dresses I like to look for simple silhouettes that have subtle details but really stand out. Then I like to style that piece with a fun topper or something with subtle print. I’ve always been a fan of solid dresses as opposed to statement prints because they’re more wearable and give off a more elevated look. I normally gravitate toward the classics, black and white, but when I saw this gorgeous Club Monaco Bindell Sweater Dress in this pastel blue, I knew I found a keeper.

The Bindell Sweater Dress from Club Monaco is not only a beautiful color, it has a clean silhouette and is made out of the softest sweater material – perfect for those cool summer nights. The back of this dress is my favorite because it features the cutest drawstring details for a customizable and figure flattering fit. I pulled the drawstrings a little tighter to create a shape that worked for me. And on top of all of that, this piece just went on sale along with several other dresses! It doesn’t get much better than that.

This dress is great for a day party and can transition seamlessly into a more casual evening look. I chose to style this look with the Viktoriah Cardigan for an unexpected pop of print. This classic take on a poncho adds a beautiful texture to the overall look, and I love the beachy tassel trim. It just gives off an effortless vibe, and the silhouette allows you to drape it over your shoulders or wear it more as a wrap. To dress up the look, I added a final touch with the Channon Heeled Sandals. The shape and style of these heels are both striking and sophisticated. The wavy straps are so simple and delicate. I have been wearing them non-stop. I wore this look to a late afternoon grad party and received so many compliments on the heels! In the meantime, I’m looking forward to dressing the Bindell Dress down for a casual day-time look with white sneakers or embellished sandals.

For some reason I’ve always been drawn to blazers, but finding the right fitting one has not always been easy. Sometimes the silhouette is to fitted or the arms and overall blazer are to short. With that being said, I wanted to introduce you all to my newest find and current obsession – this Reformation Valero stripped blazer. I picked this piece up at Reformation for my birthday in April and I have been wearing it every since. I love everything about it, from the perfectly contrasting tan hues, to the menswear inspired fit, its versatility and of course the matching skirt! Reformation has designed the ideal spring suiting with an effortless silhouette and the feminine figure in mind.

Different trends from the 90’s are constantly being reintroduced, so it is no surprise that the suit jacket and matching skirt have made a comeback. Women’s linen suiting from the 90’s had a slightly different silhouette, as the hemlines were a bit longer and the suit jackets had larger shoulder pads. But, leave it to Reformation to modernize this timeless combination. The oversized fit of the jacket compliments the A-line skirt perfectly. The fitted skirt paired with the menswear inspired jacket helps to keep that effortless cool girl vibe.

Wearing: Reformation Blazer | Reformation Skirt | Reformation T-Shirt | Ivanka Trump Sandals | Estée Lauder Sculpting Gloss

Aside from the fact that this jacket pairs perfectly with the matching linen skirt, it’s one of those wear with everything pieces. I love paring it with denim cutoffs or distressed denim because it can go from a chic causal piece to a perfect day-time dressy topper depending on what you wear it with. This jacket and skirt set is so sophisticated and pulled together, which is why I chose to share them styled together to all of you. I know a lot of you have upcoming graduation events or just end of school year celebrations and this would be perfect for any occasion. Naturally, I’m obsessed because I have been wearing it non-stop and it works with everything. I LOVE it!

I finished off the look with my new favorite block heel sandals, that can be paired with just about everything, and my Estee Lauder Sculpting Gloss in “Suggestive Kiss”. This gloss is long lasting and the subtle hint of color is buildable and luminous. It has been my recent go-to!
