GINGHAM MINI SKIRT

Reformation Top | Gingham Mini Skirt | Daniel Wellington Watch | Scala Sun Hat

Sweet sweet summertime has finally arrived in NY and I couldn’t be more thrilled! With summer weather comes a whole summer wardrobe, and, boy, do I have some cute seasonal looks in store for you guys! Today on Liv For Luxury, I’m starting off the summer style with a throwback post to the 90’s, as the most polarizing trends of this season have been inspired by the 90’s. I’m all for showing off a bit of midriff during the summer and what better way to do that than with a cropped blouse and a gingham mini skirt. But I’m not just talking about any basic cropped top. There’s one style in particular that’s making a comeback, and that’s what I like to call the “bubble top.”

With elastic bands around the waist and arms and a more abbreviated length, this trend pairs beautifully with a high-waisted bottom, such as a pair of trousers, jeans, or in this case a mini skirt. The Reformation Josephine Top can either be worn off the shoulders or it can be styled as a cropped shirt with a ruffled bubble sleeve. It’s a modern take on one of those classic off the shoulder bubble tops that I used to rock in the 90’s… and I’m sure some of you did as well!

Aside from the bubble cropped top trend that’s making a comeback this summer, gingham print is another feminine trend I knew we’d be seeing everywhere this season. Stores like Zara, Express, Free People, and Reformation are offering so many different styles in this country-style and preppy staple. Made from this cool textured gingham, this side tie skirt from Madewell was one of those “wear-with-all” pieces I knew I would make so much use of this summer. I chose to dress up this new gingham skirt with a cropped bubble top and my favorite pair of block heels. Every time I feature these suede sandals on my Instagram I get so many messages and questions about where you can purchase them. You will all be happy to know that they are inexpensive and currently on sale!

I finished off the look with my new favorite accessories – this straw sun hat and the new Bondi watch from Daniel Wellington. This sun hat is from a brand called Scala. Last summer I was obsessed with my Janessa Leone flat brimmed hat, but this season I was looking for something a little more Parisian and elegant. When I saw the sweet bow detailing on this hat, I was in love. I wanted to pair this look with some delicate details that played off the gingham print, which is why this new white-strapped Bondi watch was ideal. I have always been a fan of Daniel Wellington’s minimalistic and timeless design, and when I was introduced to this new style, I found the white strap to be unique for the brand. If you want to shop the new DW Bondi style, you can use the code LIVFORLUXURY at checkout to receive 15% off your purchase! I’ve been wearing it with all my looks recently, and it is definitely my new summer essential.

I hope you enjoyed this post and if you want to shop this look, similar items and some of my favorite gingham pieces, you can do so below:
