If there is one thing that I am excited about for this fall season, it’s fall style and the abundance of luxe fabrics and layering that comes with the territory for when temperatures begin to drop (whenever that may be in NYC…). The textures and fabrics for fall, like chunky wool knits and wide checked patterns, are a lot more luxurious compared to the light cotton and linen pieces that I was sporting all summer. Since the weather is still unsure of itself this month and we are still in between the stages of summer and fall, I am still wearing mostly lightweight pieces, but mixing in layering pieces and fabrics that add a touch of luxe.

These trousers were one of the first pieces that I bought this season. I knew that I was looking for a pant that had a straight leg, high waisted, paper bag silhouette, as menswear inspired pieces are a must this season. I instantly loved this subtle black, brown, white and maroon print, with the oversized, yet muted belt detailing on these pants. These tones ooze luxury for me, especially going into the cooler months. The fit and structure of these pants are very feminine, especially because of where the sit on the waist and the perfectly cropped hemline. These trousers also have a matching blazer and vest, if you want to take the power suit trend to the next level. Mango has been my go-to for menswear inspired suiting, as the fit and quality is always spot on.And speaking of textures, I couldn’t resist this chunky collard cardigan (wow is that a mouth full) that I purchased from Anthropologie. The creamy ivory color of the sweater pairs perfectly with the neutral brown tones running through the trouser. The contrasting knit detailing between the bodice of the sweater to the dolman sleeves, is what I immediately fell in love with. I can see myself styling this cardigan with so many different looks, like a dusty rose silk cami and jeans, or over a knit dress. The best part is this cardigan is now on sale! When It comes to putting outfits together, I really like mixing fabrics and textures, as it gives the look more dimension and interest, and this textured cardigan was the perfect layering piece for this look.Depending on the weather, this look could easily be worn with or without a layering piece, and these trousers can be dressed down with a tee and sneakers. Something I think about when purchasing new pieces for fall is if the pieces have versatility, and if I will be able to style them in various ways. If they check that box, then I am basically sold! I finished off the look with a very modern straight neck bodysuit, a neutral brown suede heel and cat-eye sunglasses (that were only $16!). The cat eye shape is so popular right now and this slim retro frame and brownish/black color was such a good find!

I hope you enjoyed my first fall look of the season! Let me know what your favorite Fall pieces are so far!

Love,

Liv xx
